Circurious 4:

Digital Show Program

Welcome

Welcome to Circurious Cabaret 4!

Circurious Cabaret produced by Circollective society for circus artists is a local community circus show that provides connection between the local circus artists and you the audiences.

Circollective is a society for circus artists, created by circus artists. We believe that audiences deserve to see what our talented community has to offer, and that artists in our community deserve to have access to local performance opportunities that allow them to thrive.

Since forming in 2023, we have brought almost 50 incredible circus and variety acts to stages in our local community, and we don’t plan on stopping anytime soon. To us, circus is about community, and we are so grateful that you have joined us here tonight and chosen to be a part of this community. All are welcome here, and we hope you enjoy the magic and enchantment that these wonderful artists have in store for you. Because we all need a little magic in our lives right now.

Cast

Amelie Hornburg

Amélie has loved performing and putting on a show for as long as she can remember. That passion led her parents to enroll her in circus school at age nine, and she discovered hula hooping a year later, something she has now dedicated herself to for the past twelve years. She has performed in a wide range of community projects across the Lower Mainland, on Vancouver Island, and even at a hooping convention in Wisconsin last year.

Amélie has also been coaching circus since she was fifteen, and over the past five years she has travelled throughout B.C. teaching workshops and classes. When not performing, you can find her either in the woods searching for interesting insects, or working on her bachelor’s degree in Ecological Restoration at BCIT and is set to graduate this April.

Atrin Saghafi

Atrin is an athlete, actor, and emerging circus artist whose work blends strength, emotion, and storytelling. With seven years of elite gymnastics rings training, he brings a foundation of power and precision to his aerial straps practice. His transition into circus began last year at CircusWest, where he now works as a tumbling coach and continues to refine his performance language under the guidance of the artistic community there.

Born with a passion for expression and movement, Atrin’s work bridges his athletic discipline with the vulnerability and creativity of circus. As a professional actor and a graduate in Kinesiology, he combines body awareness, emotional connection, and narrative intention in every piece he creates. His debut in aerial straps marks the beginning of a unique artistic path, one that highlights masculine beauty, emotional depth, and the power of movement-driven storytelling.

They are committed to evolving their craft, uplifting one another, and building something bigger than themselves by merging circus arts with cutting-edge technology.

Using custom-designed LED apparatuses and in-house–crafted costumes to create immersive, visually stunning experiences, their work has been featured at festivals and events across Western Canada—including Bass Coast Festival, where they premiered The Soul Star, a sustainable, multidimensional LED installation developed with Nliten and The Underground Circus. A major milestone followed with their full length LED showcase at Shambhala Music Festival, which united The Soul Star and The Mystic Moon in a high-impact performance.

Driven by collaboration, diversity, and artistic evolution, Elektric Collective exists to illuminate the performance arts experience and redefine what is possible through technology-driven expression.

Maria Madrugada

Maria Mardugada is a circus and variety performance artist who packs a perfect storm of acrobatic prowess, delightful choreography, and fierce presence in every performance. Hailing from the west coast on the stolen lands of the Squamish, Musqueam and Tsleil-Waututh peoples (so-called Vancouver BC), this Carnival of Femme Fatale weaves exquisite attention to detail in her performances. Maria is a producer of the Circurious Cabaret series, a founding member of the Circollective Society for Circus Artists, and the producer of the Wild Rumpus Cabaret series.

Maria’s captivating performances have brought her to many local and international stages, notably the St. John’s International Circus Festival and Sh’Bang! Festival. Maria’s passion for fascinating movement and character-driven theatricality is informed by her background in contemporary dance and physical theatre. She thrives on blurring the lines between disciplines and looking at old objects in new ways. When Maria isn’t busy scheming up her next performance you can find her dancing by herself in her living room to old records with helium balloons.

Zach & Morgan

Zach Syvenky and Morgan Noblesse started training together 3 years ago as part of the Ringmaster program at Vancouver Circus School. They have performed a wide variety of acts together from duo trapeze, juggling, and silks at both school and professional events.

Most of their material originates from them trying out random things, and seeing what’s truly a bad idea, and what’s actually pretty neat. So far, it’s a pretty even split.
